The Engagement

Alison:  Unconventional lol! I got my work schedule for October and saw the 98 hour layover in Venice. Our dream was always to get married in Tuscany and it just felt like the right time. We had been together for over 12 years after all 🙂

I asked Dale if he’d be interested in getting married while I was at work, and of course he agreed. The official proposal was overlooking the ocean in Charlottetown PEI the day after my step brother’s wedding. Dale got down on one knee with my grandmothers beautiful Amethyst ring and asked me to marry him.

I still got my traditional proposal after all!

The Wedding

We just never thought we could actually pull it off!  The beautiful setting, the wine, the food, the ambiance… everything!

Our wedding planner was fantastic, she found everything for us! I chatted on the phone with her and sent her all my fantasy wedding pictures from Pinterest. She was able to take the information and make it a fairytale wedding, exactly what we wanted and just never thought we could do!

Our wonderful hair and makeup team came to the Castle in the morning and spent the day pampering us and making us beautiful! I’m so happy we had them come to us, I would definitely recommend that. It’s for one special day and it helps to keep all stress to a minimum, no running around, just pampering!

So many special memories! I had my sister, my best friend, and my new sister in law with me getting ready. We all had to sew some hair extensions the morning of so that I could have a nice full bun. We weren’t expecting that as I’ve never worn them and didn’t know I needed to do that lol. We made it fun by drinking a few mimosas and listening to music.

I sent my wedding planner pictures of dream decor and flowers, what you might find if you google “dream tuscan wedding”. Olive branches, eucalyptus, garden roses. No tall centerpieces, we wanted to be able to see everyone, so I really love the swag of florals as a table runner, so beautiful!

The food was amazing, as was the wine of course! We loved that next door was a pianist with a lovely voice, he played us our first dance song as well as one for my dad and I; we have a very special bond.

And the decor and ambiance was amazing, made us really feel like royalty in a castle!

Our photographers and videographers were great about working around all the cell phones recording on the day of.  I also loved the first look with my dad. Everyone made it really special and the photos and videos are so special. We also did a special toast with the girls and my dad and brother before the ceremony, loved that too!

We had a cellist at the ceremony. We walked down the aisle to “Beethoven’s 5 secrets”, and walked out to “Perfect” which we also had our first dance to, right there in the Italian garden.

Everyone loved the whole week, but especially the wedding day. They said it was an absolute dream, a fairytale. Like we had won the lottery and found ourselves wrapped in the magic of Italy.
