Italian weddings by the beach bring out the ‘romantica‘ in everyone! But a ceremony at sea is above and beyond any typical love story. Lindsay and Jordan picked one of the most authentic Italian seaside villages in the Cinque Terre region for their wedding in Italy – Manarola- and they set up an exciting Italian wedding weekend for the whole family. A steep traipse from their private boutique retreat La Torretta down to the water started their big day. They hopped on a private boat to set sail for a spiritual blessing in deep blue Mediterranean waters off the coast of the Italian Riviera.
Wedding weekend with family
The weekend in Manarola was packed with adventure including a two hour hike up through terraced vineyards climbing up peaks to reach a winery for tasting local whites. The Cinque Terre is a challenging destination with rugged coastline and cliffside plunges to take your breath away. The micro-climate there causes sudden changes in the weather mean that planning a wedding cruise is a double fingers-crossed situation.
After a perfectly calm wedding ceremony at sea and a prosecco toast on board (salute!), Lindsay and Jordan sailed back to Manarola for a superb Italian reception dinner at local seafood hotspot Marina Piccola and an Italian farewell to the newlyweds was complete with moonlit waters.
